Methodology: Annual cost = (monthly fee × 12) + (direct revenue × direct fee%) + (OTA revenue × OTA fee%). Pricing verified April 2026. Real rates vary by region, plan tier, contract terms, and payment processor passthrough fees. Bokun's 0% OTA assumes Viator (their parent network); Peek Pro's 0% OTA assumes Peek.com listings. For multi-channel operators, your effective rate may differ — book the audit for a personalized analysis.

How the calculator works

Total annual cost on each platform is calculated as:

(monthly fee × 12) + (direct revenue × direct fee%) + (OTA revenue × OTA fee%)

Direct revenue is your monthly bookings × AOV × (1 − OTA share). OTA revenue is the rest. For each platform, we apply the published rate scheme.

Why some platforms beat others at different volumes

FareHarbor wins at low volume because the 6% commission on a small booking base is less than $49/mo × 12 = $588 minimum on Bokun or Rezdy.

Bokun wins at mid volume because $588/year of subscription beats 6% of ~$10,000+ booking revenue, and the 1.5% direct fee is a fraction of FareHarbor's 6%.

Rezdy wins at high direct volume because the 0% direct booking commission means every dollar of growth is pure margin. At 1,000+ direct bookings/month, the savings vs Bokun are $10K–$20K/year.

Checkfront and Bookeo can win specific scenarios — multi-activity operators (rentals + tours) and small operators with predictable monthly bookings — but rarely win on pure cost-comparison math.

FAQ

How does this calculator work?+

It calculates total annual cost on each platform using: (monthly fee × 12) + (direct booking revenue × direct fee%) + (OTA revenue × OTA fee%). You enter your monthly bookings, average booking value, and OTA share — the calculator outputs a sorted comparison instantly.

Which tour booking platform is actually cheapest?+

It depends on your booking volume and OTA mix. For under ~100 bookings/month, FareHarbor (no monthly, 6%) typically wins. For 100–500 bookings/month, Bokun ($49/mo + 1.5%) usually wins. Above 500 direct bookings/month, Rezdy (flat fee, 0% direct) wins because the commission savings outpace the subscription cost.

Why does Bokun show 0% on OTA bookings?+

Bokun is owned by TripAdvisor, the same company that owns Viator. Bookings that come through Viator via Bokun's channel manager incur 0% Bokun fee (Viator still takes its own 20–25% commission, but that's not Bokun's fee).

Are these prices accurate?+

Pricing was verified in April 2026 from each platform's public pricing page. Real rates vary by region (FareHarbor charges different commissions outside North America), plan tier (Rezdy has 3 tiers from $49–$249), contract terms, and payment processor passthrough fees. The calculator uses the most common public-rate scenario for each platform.

What about Stripe / payment processor fees?+

Most booking systems pass payment processor fees through transparently (~2.9% + 30¢ per transaction). The calculator does not include these because they apply roughly equally across all platforms. They affect total cost but not relative cost between platforms.

I have a custom Rezdy contract — does the calculator apply?+

No. Rezdy negotiates custom rates for high-volume operators (typically above $1M GMV). If you have a custom contract, use the calculator as a starting point and adjust based on your actual rate card. Or book a free audit and we'll do the math for you.

Switching booking systems is hard. Get a second opinion.

The calculator tells you the cheapest. It doesn't tell you whether the migration is worth the friction. Book a free 30-minute audit — we'll review your current setup and tell you whether to switch, stay, or renegotiate.
